Donald Goodhall works at the intersection of art and faith, with a particular passion for cultivating creative contexts in which theology can be fruitfully explored. Growing up immersed in a vibrant music scene, he developed a love for making music. This passion spilled over into a broader creative impulse, sparking a desire to lead collaborative arts projects that has shaped his work ever since.
Donald holds a Master of Arts in Theology from Regent College in Vancouver, Canada, where he deepened his engagement with theology, culture, and the arts. His master’s degree culminated in an integrative project in art and theology that brought together artists from a range of disciplines in a site-specific installation. This “immersive meditation on Psalm 73” embodied Donald’s desire to shape environments that foster encounter with God, reflection on Scripture, and a deepening life of prayer.
Before joining Venn Foundation, Donald served his Hamilton church for many years in pastoral ministry, with responsibilities spanning student and young adult ministry, the arts, and communication. He joined Venn as Director of the Residential Fellowship — a role he held for eight years — and has recently taken up the position of Director of Venn’s Centre for the Arts. He and his wife, Janaya, now call Auckland home.
