with Carl Tinnion
Stories in the Backyard is an evening immersion in poetry, music, story, and song—an opportunity for you to linger under the stars as you listen, imagine, and consider. In collaboration with our friend Carl Tinnion, poet-priest-painter-and-performer, we have crafted an evening for the senses.
The evening will feature Carl Tinnion’s reimagining of the ancient art of mystagogical preaching—narrative theology performed as one woven tapestry of biblical stories. Carl will explore the biblical images of bread and water as they relate to baptism and holy communion. Think of it as an imaginative, symbol-rich journey from Genesis to the Gospels.
Carl will be joined by other artists who will offer their art, stories and meditations on biblical texts. The whole evening is an invitation to linger before Holy Scripture and hear it with fresh ears, letting it delight, nourish and challenge us afresh.
Join us over drinks and nibbles, as we explore Scripture through the arts. Please register below as numbers are limited.
Please note, Carl’s performative storytelling forms part of his doctoral studies. As such, we will be encouraging you to complete a short questionnaire to help with his research.
