Winters That Melt

By Gabrielle Peake >> 1 min read
Arts, Photography, Music Music

We’re delighted to feature original music by pianist and composer Gabrielle Peake. This is music to winter by, and—as the title suggests—to anticipate the seasons’ change.

You can experience the music directly via the Spotify link below, or immerse yourself visually in the collaboration with Ukrainian independent video artists Kristina and Nazar.

Gabrielle writes:

Music, as with art generally, gives form to feeling. “Winters that Melt” is a piece that in some ways is informed by the feeling of loss, but it is also intimate and hopeful: it conveys a trust in the truth, goodness and beauty conveyed by the changing seasons.

Composing is a letting go: a practice in being a vessel for God to speak through, in a language that only the soul understands. Such composition also entails prayer: prayer that God knocks on my door to call new music into existence—and for the discipline to make that happen.

If music has a voice that speaks to the soul, then my hope is that “Winter’s that Melt” is just such a gift—that it speaks to you.
